A day in Vigevano

Start the day with breakfast in one of the historic cafes under the arcades of Piazza Ducale, considered one of the most beautiful squares in Italy. After breakfast, visit the Castello Sforzesco, an imposing fortress with towers, courtyards and the famous Maschio, a defensive keep. Walking within the walls, you can discover the Strada Coperta, a long fortified passageway that connected the castle to the surrounding countryside.

If you love history, drop by the Museo Internazionale della Calzatura, which tells the story of Vigevano’s connection to shoe production, a sector in which the city has been a world leader.

After lunch, treat yourself to a walk in Ticino Park, a nature reserve perfect for an outdoor break. You can take a walk along the river or rent a bicycle to explore the paths through woods and fields.

If you prefer to stay in town, you can visit Vigevano Cathedral, with its dramatic Baroque facade that harmoniously closes Piazza Ducale.
